The A final again very good close racing. Top Heavy weight coming in 5th in the A final was Dave Hicks, fantastic race for him. 3rd in the final was Ashley Waters 2nd was Dominic Oliver, and 1st overall in the final was Brett Wheatley, this is his 3rd win in a row!! Well done to all drivers for taking part.
What a fantastic race this was! Every team hit a 55.8 second a lap and above so a very quick fleet and fantastic racing conditions. Our Qualifying saw MK Racing in 3rd place, these guys have made a come back from having a bit of time off racing and have come back on form. 2nd on the grid was Lumber Racing and 1st for the grid was Entente Cordial putting in an impressive time of 55.3 second lap. On to the race itself, great racing from all teams very close up front until Entente Cordial pulled away and had a lights to flag victory managing to get a quickest time of the night a 55.078. Round 2 Open Grand Prix- The night kicked off with some great driving. We had a lot of new drivers this night showing great promise for the future. Very quick lap times this night with Brett Wheatley putting in 54.8’s in the final! The night was dry and cold so with this came some close clean racing. In the B final was close racing with the top 3 drivers battling the whole way. Brandon Lucas came 3rd in the end holding 2nd place the whole race until the last lap, fantastic considering this was only his 2nd ever race. 2nd place went to Kane Illingworth who had previously competed in the Junior League a while ago so again fantastic result. And 1st place in the B final was Paul Gaston putting in a very quick lap time of 56.0 and winning with a lights to flag victory. In the A final we had Sam Foster who is a heavy weight putting in a great lap time of 55.3. Sam took 3rd place and 1st heavy of the night. 2nd place was Dominic Oliver who managed a 55.2 lap time, and 1st Place was Brett Wheatley who put the quickest lap in as well of a 54.8, winning 2 month on the trott. Round 2 saw 8 teams take part in last nights Open Team Endurance. Again was a cold night and tricky track conditions. The Qualifying was very close up until the last lap when Jet Racing put in a very quick time in wet conditions. The 1 hour 30 minute race started with Jet Racing on pole followed by Old Gits in second place and 3rd on the grid was See You Next Tuesday. The racing was as usual very clean and fair a few spins trying to get to grips with the changing track conditions. Our new team CD Drive had a fantastic drive to 4th place finish. It was very close near the end with David and Co and Jet Racing. David and Co had 1 pit stop remaining with Jet Racing chasing them down, but a very swift driver change saw David and Co 3 seconds in the lead after the pit stop taking the victory. Well done to all that came along we look forward to seeing you all again next month.
03/01/17- We had 8 teams competing for the first round of the Open Team Endurance. Conditions weren’t the best very cold and greasy track. But as usual a lot of smiling faces and happy customers. Old Gits took pole position after the qualifying. Lap times were close all night with not even a second between each team. Old gits drove all the way to the chequered flag to victory.
10/01/17- Open Grand Prix time now! A big field of 22 drivers for this night, again cold and damp as expected for January! some very good, clean, close racing and again very close on lap times in tricky conditions. B final saw Dave Hicks taking 3rd place 2nd was Michael Brown and 1st place Daniel Perrin. A final saw Andy Horne taking 3rd place battling all the way with Josh Grout taking 2nd and winning the Open Grand Prix Brett Wheatley.
25/01/17- This night was the Cadet League,Winter Series Round 1. Quite a quiet one for us with 5 drivers. Lovely to have a few new drivers with us, Joe Garaway who has been waiting for years to be tall enough saw him in his first race with us in the corporate karts. Brilliant racing all night from our youngest drivers. Finishing in 3rd place on his first race here was Jensen Beane 2nd place was Archie Sampson making his first race with us here also, and 1st place going to Oliver Flashman. Well done guys.
26/01/17- A great night for the Winter Series for the Junior League. Great close racing with lap times mostly all in the 54s! A very cold but dry night so the track was lovely to drive. The final seeing 3rd place Oscar Drane 2nd place Tom Emson and 1st place Lewis Appiagyei, who also smashed the lap record in Junior Corporate 54.150!!!! Wow!! well done.

Round 2 of the Open Endurance series would be the first time the drivers had driven the new surface and reconfiguration after being soaked at the previous two meetings. Three of the teams were having to compete as solo efforts with Glen Oford of Ant Hill Mob still injured so leaving brother Andy to uphold honours. David Roberts had switched from David & Co to the returning Entente Cordiale team but team-mate Marc Hannewald was a last minute withdrawal. Mark Gething was the final solo effort after See You Next Tuesday team-mate Steve Williams received a work related emergency call moments before drivers briefing. Amusingly Mark was unaware of his team-mates departure until seconds before qualifying started so now had the daunting prospect of ninety minutes of driving ahead of him.
Qualifying would see a constant to-and-fro of positions with Round 1 victors David & Co, now with David Haverson joining Gary Kent, the early pacesetters. Gething got himself into a rhythm and posted the fastest lap with four minutes remaining. ST came close to toppling Gething but fell short by just a tenth of a second. The front row was therefore made up of See You Next Tuesday and ST with David & Co and Pulham Pigs completing row two. Just over a second covered the field but both Team Moo and MGRC Racing elected to change their machines after qualifying tenth and thirteenth respectively.
The race got underway with Gething shooting into an early lead. At the end of lap one Gething dived into the pits followed by Orford (Ant Hill Mob) to make early stops to get out of traffic. This promoted ST into the lead but they were being hassled by Old Gits and Lumber Racing. Gething pitted again on each of the first five laps to leave him with a 85 minute stint to the end and one lap down on the leaders. Lumber Racing moved into the lead on lap six and began to stretch their advantage. Jonny Burridge (Team Moo) was making steady progress through the field and when he handed over to team-mate Kieran Cannell they were up to fifth. Cannell was on a mission and not only had moved up into the lead at the end of his opening stint he had also broken the lap record along the way. No sooner had he jumped out of the kart and received lots of back slapping the timing screens then lit up with another lap record, this time from Ant Hill Mob who had lowered the benchmark by another tenth of a second.
While all this excitement was going on MGRC Racing’s race was not going to plan so another change of machine was made at their third pit stop, by this point they were last with nothing to lose. Also slipping back were David & Co who were now on the fringes of the top ten. By now all of the teams had set lap times within a second of the fastest lap such is the competitiveness of the league this season.
Cannell decided he quite enjoyed having the lap record even it is was only for a few minutes so when he ventured back on track for his second he was determined to have another go at getting it. He duly succeeded by a staggering three tenths of a second leading to many a jaw drop from his fellow competitors. This also cemented Team Moo’s advantage at the head of the field and they could now afford to relax slightly in the closing stages. Ant Hill Mob decided to make two late stops, the first of which quickly turned into a disaster when the kart stalled during the stop. A quick change of machine got them back underway but at their final stop a lap later another change of kart was made which dropped them from podium contention to just inside the top ten. This promoted See You Next Tuesday to second with a consistent driver from Gething quietly moving him up the order during the final round of stops.
When the flag fell it was Team Moo who claimed their first victory since July 2014, a popular result for this stalwart team of the series. See You Next Tuesday were brought home second by both a delighted and exhausted Gething with Lumber Racing picking up their second ever podium in third. ST came home fourth ahead of Pulham Pigs, Old Gits, Ant Hill Mob, JET Racing, David & Co with Entente Cordiale rounding out the top ten. JB Racing, MGRC Racing, The Stooges and B Team completed the finishers.
Round 3 of the series takes place on Tuesday 1st March at 630pm. To enter a team or for more information please call 01502 717718.
